A series on the Beatitudes, Happiness and the Good Life
Every third Sunday, July 2026 to April 2027
What is happiness, and how might we find it? Is it possible to be both good and happy?
Often, it feels as if the faith only imposes a burdensome list of obligations: indeed, it sometimes seems that those who live without such “rules” have greater freedom and happiness!
The Lay Dominicans of Singapore invite you to explore these questions in "Seeking Happiness", a ten-session series based on Servais Pinckaers’ book, The Pursuit of Happiness—God’s Way. In this work, Pinckaers shows how the human desire for happiness finds its perfect answer in Christ's Beatitudes, given in the form of eight challenges and promises.
While the modern world often promises happiness through comfort, the Beatitudes offer a radical alternative that confronts the reality of human suffering, while leading us to true and lasting joy. With the teachings of St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Augustine, this programme will unpack how the Beatitudes teach us to love God above all things, and to live a truly good life with joy.
